Kiki McDonough: A Life of Colour

We are excited to present the remarkable story of Kiki McDonough, a leading female British designer and her globally renowned jewellery, which is much loved by the Royal family, and worn by the modern woman.

Over 40 years, Kiki has built a globally renowned brand, designing a multitude of sought-after and timeless pieces. One of the first jewellers to popularise coloured gemstones outside of the big three (rubies, emeralds, and sapphires), Kiki creates jewellery with a multitude of beautiful colours which speak to the stylish modern woman.

With this in mind, she has long challenged the tradition that jewellery is to be bought by men for women, and instead aiming her works directly at the women for whom she is designing. Her jewellery is frequently worn by HRH Catherine, Princess of Wales, while major pieces now form part of the jewellery collection at the V&A museum, London.

This hardback title looks back upon and celebrates Kiki’s business, her life, and her remarkable story. From her very first concession in a friend’s jewellery store in 1985, to striking out on her own, navigating through the chaos of family life, and finally building her brand into the global success that it is today, Kiki’s story is as colourful and joyful as her jewellery.

We advise cleaning your jewellery often, with nothing more than a very soft brush such as a toothbrush, a drop of mild dish soap and warm water (except for pearls, emeralds and opals). Avoid the use of any jewellery dips or ultrasonic cleaners as these can be harmful to the gemstones and the metal. Read more about caring for your jewellery here.

We are proud members of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), and each of our suppliers is audited to ensure they meet the highest ethical, environmental, and social standards.

Diamonds:

Our diamonds are natural, untreated diamonds with a colour and clarity range of minimum H/SI.

Gemstones:

We source our natural gemstones and diamonds from carefully vetted, conflict-free suppliers from around the world. Each stone is chosen for its quality, colour, clarity, and ethical origin. From vivid coloured gems to brilliant diamonds, only the most captivating gemstones make it into our collections.

Our stones are sometimes enhanced, which means treated in some way to improve their colour or clarity. This often involves a heat or delicate chemical process. Examples of stones with some enhancements are citrine and blue topaz.

Carat Weights:

The carat weights of our stones are approximate totals and will vary marginally.

For more information on any of our gemstones, please speak to a member of our retail team at info@kiki.co.uk, who will be happy to give you some more information.
