Blogger and copywriter Hattie West will always be a Chelsea girl, despite recently having moved across the water – “Luna, my little schnauzer, now has Battersea Park on her doorstep and we have an extra addition to the family on the way, so more space was essential!” Once upon a time trying her luck with fake IDs on the King’s Road, nowadays she prefers “balmy summer evenings watching Wimbledon on the big screen at Bluebird” and frequenting local restaurants. “I absolutely love Farm Girl and Polpo; amazing food, very friendly staff and dog-friendly.”
When it comes to jewellery, simplicity is key for Hattie, “although if I’m heading to something bigger in the evening, statement earrings can be really impactful. I love stacking – layered necklaces over jumpers in winter or on fresh tanned skin in summer, beautiful fine bracelets, hoop earrings and stacking rings. Less is more because great pieces do the talking without trying.” In fact, the sentiment she lives by – “don’t overthink it and go with your gut” – could just as well be attributed to her jewellery choices.
We caught up with Hattie to talk about her summer ‘It list’, from clothes, jewellery and must-read books to the Season’s hottest tickets.

Podcast: How I Built This
Books: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is a very hard book to follow. Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love was hilarious.
Where are you going on holiday this summer and what jewellery do you always pack for your travels?
We’ve just returned from a big adventure in Valencia, Marrakech and the Agafay Desert – check out my blog to find out more. I’ll always have hoop earrings and fine layered necklaces with me; they’re great multi-taskers and look just as good with bikinis and hair scarves as they do denim shorts and T-shirts, and when you’re dressing up for suppers in the evening.
What are your Summer plans and what Kiki McDonough jewellery would you wear to each of them?
The Queen’s Club Fever-Tree Tennis Championships, 18-24 June
I’m a tennis obsessive and worked at Queen’s throughout my uni years, plus it always fell on my birthday so I got to spend it with an awesome team (I made lifelong friends there) watching tennis. It’s got such a special and intimate feel to it compared to the Slams (though of course I love these too) as the players just roam among the crowds. I’d wear the Apollo detachable drop earrings – perfect early summer colours and great for blondes. Plus they should get a nice swing on them as I watch the ball go back and forth over the net!
Royal Ascot, 19-23 June
This is such an iconic and exciting event in the Great British Summer calendar. Just seeing what The Queen is wearing as she comes past is exciting! I’d wear the Forget Me Not amethyst necklace, with a long-sleeved maxi wrap dress. Jewellery that works well with a hat is obviously essential.
Masterpiece London, 28 June – 4 July
Stepping into the magical art world right on the Embankment is amazing. And it’s a chance to really get dressed up. I’d team a floor-skimming Beulah dress with some Kiki jewellery for this event; the colour of this Blue Topaz pendant is extraordinary and this Green Amethyst bangle is a real show-stopper.
