Rowan and Briony

Meet Rowan Blossom and Briony Lewis – Rowan Blossom was founded in 2015 when Rowan left her career in fashion to pursue her love of floristry. What began as a simple florist studio focused on creating beautiful blooms has grown into a floral empire offering this and much more than flowers. Five years on the Rowan Blossom brand continues to thrive and in Summer 2019 Briony joined Rowan in the business. The sisters have long dreamt of working together and following on from successfully collaborating on Rowan’s wedding in May 2019 – which went on to be featured in Vogue – and a series of events throughout the latter part of the year, they joined forces! Briony’s experience in events catering and luxury hospitality brings a new dimension to the business and will ensure the development of the brand. Their shared imagination and love for food, flowers and fiestas shines through in their energy and vigour for creative projects and events.

Tell us a bit about your business and the inspiration behind it?

Rowan: Five years ago I left my job in fashion to pursue my love of floristry, which is when I founded Rowan Blossom. What started as a little flower pop-up shop blossomed into an event floristry and styling business. It’s my dream job and I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunities I have. In 2019, I was so proud to have my first book published, which quite literally started a new chapter for the business. This was the same year my darling Johnny and I were married, which was such a magical day! Amazingly the wedding was picked up by the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Espana, and was featured in their annual wedding supplement! What followed next has been overwhelming and a total whirlwind of a year, and I feel incredibly lucky to have finally managed to convince my little sister Briony to join me!

Briony: When Rowan Blossom really took off in 2019, I started working with Row to help manage her larger projects (the wedding, an installation for British Flowers Week at the Garden Museum and her appearance at the Cheltenham Literature Festival to name a few!). As Row has already said, the business really started to take off and we were so busy with events and styling that we carried on working together on a permanent basis! When lockdown hit, obviously all of our events and jobs were cancelled. This was a huge blow, but we feel so fortunate to have such an incredible support system around us that we were able to keep going. We started doing video tutorials around Christmas last year, which was a huge success! So whilst we had free time we started doing more filming and presenting. We just wanted to bring a bit of joy and positivity into a really difficult time for many. It was a fantastic surprise to be picked up by a Talent Management company during this period, which has led to us creating content for some of our most loved brands. It’s crazy to us both how the business is developing! We naturally complement each other, and have so much fun working together.

What have you found the biggest challenges?

2020 has been annus horribulus for us all. When lockdown hit, obviously all of our events and jobs were cancelled. This was a huge blow, but we feel so fortunate to have such an incredible support system around us that we were able to keep going.
